Response Writing:
“Oh the horror...the horror”
This quote is used in the novel “
Heart of Darkness” by Joseph Conrad' s. It also can be related to
the novel “Lord of the Flies” by William Golding. They both want
to express a same theme, the immense darkness of the human inside.
Different in approach but equally
satisfactory in result. “Oh the horror...the horror” says the
evil is hidden inside the human' s heart, the darkness of the human
psyche. That is the important purport what Golding want to tell us.
With the development of the story. The group of the boys live
together in peace initially, and then the conflicts between Ralph
and Jack become more and more obvious, finally they beware of each
other even fight one another. The changes of the boys' s inner
psychological, and the manners of the boy change from civilized
acting to savage conduct. They lose not only their friendship but
also their innocence.
As the plot advances, the fight for the
position of the leader, we learn the writer' s thoughs, the darkness
of the human psyche.
Base on William Golding' s statement,
the dark evil is existed in everyone' s hearts even the naive
children.
