“Oh the horror...the horror...”

The quote “Oh the horror...the horror...” from Joseph Conrad's book “The Heart of Darkness ties into the novel “Lord of the Flies” very well. On the island the boys during a very traumatizing experiences. The plane crash alone was just a start. As days passed, situations worsened and got more and more horrific. The boys were stranded. They were left alone with no food, and not adult on the island. This started to take a toll on them because they started to lose their sense of reality and not being around any civilization would make the average person go mad. They can feel themselves distancing from civilization. But along with that, go some pretty horrific sights and sounds. “The horror, the horror!” has a strong relation to this story because I think that the feeling you get with this quote represents worry and being afraid, and considering that's how the boys are feeling throughout almost the entire book, this shows a very close relation to the two.

  1. I like how you connect the quote with your book. The quote connects to my story Life of Pi in a different way. The horror in life of Pi is targeted by Richard Parker and the deaths of Pi's family members. Pi was extremely saddened by his family's death but never let horror rule his life. Pi's tamed Richard Parker and in doing so concurred the horror.
