I decided to draw the pig’s head on the stick because the
pig is the beast that haunts the boys during their stay on the island. I drew
this scene the way that I did because that is the way that the words in the
book painted the scene for me. To me this stands for relief that their fear is finally
gone, their fear has been defeated and shall no longer hunt them.
I drew the broken glasses just lying in the grass with no supporting
images because I felt that it showed the horror of the lost humanity. The glasses showed the ability to stabilise
life, and to ensure the possibility of rescue. From their blank island
isolation.
