“Oh the horror, the horror” Quote Response

The quote “Oh the horror...the horror...” from Joseph Conrad's book “The Heart of Darkness This quote is ties into the novel “Lord of the Flies” very well. On the island the boys have some very traumatizing experiences. The plane crash alone because of would scar and life, but as days passed, the situations worse and get more and more terrible. The boys were left without no food, no water, and not one adult on the island. They start to lose their sense of reality and not being around any civilization. They can feel themselves distancing from civilization. But along with that, go some pretty terrible sights and sounds. You thought was a member of your tribe try to stab your best friend would be horrendous to watch, but that was only one of the many things that happened on the abandoned island.

  1. Well put Tonny! Although I have not read "Lord of the flies" you have persuaded me to believe it is a story of survival and tragedy. Just like in "Life of Pi" Pi also has little food and water and needs to learn how to survive as he is isolated from civilization or anyone for that matter, other than a figment of his imagination. Pi, like the boys in "Lord of the flies" also had to recover from some very horrific events that he had also seen and heard. I can now see the similar ideas that come up between two separate literary works. Well done!
