"Lord of the Flies'' - first quarter

Lord of the flies: first quarter

Synopsis: After a plane crash, boys from some school get stuck on a desert island with no adults survivors. Piggy and Ralph are the first to appear in the story. They try to find a way to call the other survivors for a meeting by blowing up a big shell. Boys start to come from different places on te island. While they were introducing their selfs to each other, a gang of boys appear saying they needed a leader for the group, and since Jack was the leader of the gang, he should be the leader of the group. Seeing that nobody agreed, they decided to vote for a leader, and Jack loses for Ralph. Jack doesn't get very happy, so Ralph put him and his gang to be the protectors of the group so Jack could be the leader. After deciding everything, they set different activities for everybody and start to explore the island.
Characters:
Piggy: Ralph's assistant, represents science, round character.
Ralph: Represents leadership and human beings, leader of the group and protagonist on the novel. Round character.
Jack: The antagonist. Flat character and represents the opposite of what Ralph is.
Simon: Flat character. Survivor in the island, represents the opposite of evil.
Sam and Eric : Flat characters. Survivors and also very close to Ralph.
Choir: Jack's gang. Flat characters. Survivors.
Point of view:
The way that the story is told is very interesting because it's like a foreshadowing. It's told on the third person, so we can see the different points of view from everybody and understand what's happening.
Setting:
After the plane crash, there were no adults survivors, but kids after a plane crash that got stuck on an island. So what makes the story very interesting is the fact that we don't know what they're going to do to survive in the jungle.
Notes about the writer's style
In the beginning of the book, everybody is working together as a team to survive on the island. As the story goes we can see that some people change sides and it becomes something more like a competition between them. So by this point we can see the author writes in a realistic way, expressing different thoughts and points of view of all characters.
Theme:
The theme of the story represents the work as a team. So when they organize them selfs as a small society, they work together so everybody helps each other.
