Chapter 1-5

Synopsis:
The story happens in the Manor Farm. One night Mr. Jones is drunk. Old Major wishes to communicate it to all animals. Major accuses the human' s self-serving and cruel behavior. Major indicates that if the animals want to have a beatific future, they need to against the human and runs the farm by themselves, the animals. Major sings "Beasts of England", all of the animals sing along with him. They are so delighted. After Major dies, the animals begin many secret activities and prepare for the revolution. Napoleon, Snowball and Squealer are the most outstanding pigs in the farm. They are responsible for the preparation work and organization. The three pigs complete Major's thoughts and develops a ideological system called "Animalism". At this time Mr. Jones is in terrible luck, he is upset. Mr. Jones is becoming careless with the farm and starves the animals. On Midsummer's Eve, the animals crush to the feeds and start the revolt. The animals expel Mr. Jones and the farm's employees out the farm successfully. Napoleon, Snowball and Squealer named the farm "Animal Farm" and rule with The Seven Commandments. The animals study how to manage the farm and learn the technologies. "Animal Farm" is spread all over the country. The other farm's owners are afraid their animals will revolt too. They gossip dirt about the Animal Farm,but no one believe it. Mr. Jones wants to get his farm back. However, he fails and is expelled from the farm again .The animals named the battle"the Battle of the Cowshed". As time goes on , Napoleon and Snowball always have different points on the same thing and the contradictions are brought out gradually between them, especially Snowball's idea windmill. In the meeting, Snowball is expelled by the nine dogs. The nine dogs are seized by Napoleon for himself. Napoleon controls the Animal Farm and rules the farm in a military way.

Character:
Napoleon: A pig. Round and dynamic character. The antagonist in the novel. Napoleon is a large, rather fierce- looking Berkshire boar. He is a stubborn leader of the animals after the rebellion, and rules the animals in military way.
Snowball: A pig. Round character. He is a more vivacious pig than Napoleon both quicker in speech and more inventive. He is expelled by Napoleon.
Squealer: A pig. Flat character. A porker with very round cheeks , twinkling eyes, nimble movements and a shrill voice. He is a brilliant talker and spreads the news.
Mr. Jones:Manor Farm's owner. Flat and static character. He was defeated and expelled by the animals.
Boxer: A horse. Flat character . He is loyal and hard working, believes in the leader.
Benjamin: A donkey. Flat character. He is the first to realize that nothing will change even they no longer control by man
Old Major: A pig and flat character. He suggests the animals should revolt and manage their own farm. 

Point of the View:
The story is told from a narrator in third person. The narrator is omniscient. The author stand on the animals' s perception so that the reader can see from the animals' s eyes, think about the novel in a different point of view and a different feeling.
Setting:
The story is set in the Manor Farm. A farm in England.
Writer's style:
Writer uses the simple word and the short sentence for telling the fact. He also uses irony and symbol in the novel.

Statement of Themes:
The themes of the novel we can know so far is the power' s use and leadership. The pigs say that they want every animals to be equal but when the pigs 's power become higher and higher. They begin to think about themselves and fight for the power.
